MMA is the fastest growing sport in the UK, Ultra MMA allows participants to get the experience of training for MMA in a safe and enjoyable environment. 8 weeks of training, They then get the opportunity to fight in the cage at the end of the 8 weeks and raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Couple of weeks ago I decided to sign up to the event in Aberdeen that will take place at Hillton Tree Tops on 26th of May.
Aberdeen Fitness and Combat Centre provide 3 free training sessions a week to those who have signed up, where participants receive first class training in MMA from their experienced coaches. There are also extra classes such as boxing, wrestling, jujitsu, mauy thai, kickboxing and other fitness classes participants can attend at AFCC.
Training so far has been good, although just before I signed up I pulled a muscle in my back the first week of training which set training back a little. I was determined to get started though and did some technical training and learning some jujitsu. My back was still playing up so I got some massage therapy from Nicola Harkins, who used kinetic chain release techniques, electro acupuncture and massaged the area,
My back was then feeling great and I was able to do double training sessions most days last week, consisting of boxing, wrestling, jujitsu, and strength and conditioning.
The jujitsu and wresting are fairly new to me as I have only dabbled a little bit with it in the past. The coaches have been tremendous and I am starting to learn the techniques and really starting to enjoy it now.
So really enthusiastic about the whole experience and training has been great. Good bunch of people who have signed up and great comradery, with people helping each other out. Big Shout out to the coaches and fighters who have taken the training or gone out of there way to help with tips and advice.
