World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended levels of physical activity for children aged 5 - 17 years should accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity daily. This is beneficial for both mental and physical health.
For children and young people, physical activity includes play, games, sports, transportation, chores, recreation, physical education, or planned exercise. Physical activity can improve cognitive and mental health, but the underlying mechanisms have not been established.
