This is a great exercise to help build strength and balance, as well as working the muscles in the lower body (glutes, quads and hamstrings), it forces you to keep an upright posture which requires upper body strength and stability and works the core hard.

This is a tough exercise even with relatively light weights. Sets of 5 to 8 reps per leg will get your whole body working hard.
